Tattoo Aftercare Bremen – Tribal Monkey Healing Guide
Tattoo Aftercare – How to Heal Your Tattoo the Tribal Monkey Way
You’ve just sat through hours of focused work. Maybe it was a bold Polynesian tattoo, a full geometric sleeve, or deep black ornamental flow.
The hard part’s done—but healing is where the tattoo really becomes part of you.
This isn’t just about skin. It’s about preserving the art, respecting your body, and honoring the energy we put into this.
Right After Your Session
Before you leave the studio, I’ll cover your tattoo with plastic film or soaker pads, depending on the type and size of your piece.
Keep it on according to the cover:
Plastic film: Leave it on for 2 to 4 hours. No peeking. No shortcuts.
Soaker pad: Leave it on until the next morning — yes, even if you’re curious. Let it do its thing.
Once you’re home:
Wash your hands first.
Gently clean the tattoo with lukewarm water and fragrance-free soap.
Pat it dry with a disposable paper towel. Avoid using your bathroom towel.
Don’t apply any cream for the first few days—unless I tell you otherwise. For large blackwork or spiritual pieces, I recommend dry healing to let the skin breathe.
A Few Days In
When your skin feels tight, itchy, or starts flaking—that’s your cue.
Apply a thin layer of proper tattoo aftercare cream (not body lotion or DIY stuff).
2–3 times a day is enough.
Keep the area clean and avoid tight clothing or anything that causes sweating or friction.
What to Absolutely Avoid
Don’t scratch, even when it itches.
Don’t pick flakes or scabs. That’s how you lose ink and damage lines.
No swimming, saunas, hot tubs, or soaking in baths.
No sun exposure until it’s fully healed—and use sunscreen afterwards, always.
Tattoo Healing Timeline
Top layer heals in 7–14 days.
Deep healing takes 4–6 weeks, sometimes longer depending on your skin and the tattoo style.
If you notice anything unusual—pus, redness, swelling, heat, pain—message me or see a doctor immediately.
Long-Term Tattoo Care
Healing doesn’t stop after a few weeks. Here’s how to keep your tattoo looking sharp for years:
Always use sunscreen when exposed to sunlight.
Keep your skin moisturised regularly.
Stay hydrated, eat well, and rest—your skin reflects how you treat your body.
Based in Bremen or Hamburg?
I work with clients from Bremen, Hamburg, and across northern Germany and Europe. My sessions are intense, spiritual, and built to last. They require time, focus, and depth—because this kind of work isn’t just decoration, it’s transformation. The healing process is part of that journey, and how you care for it makes all the difference..
Aftercare is part of the tattoo. When you book a large-scale blackwork or Polynesian project with me, you’re entering something deeper. Respect it.

🔍 FAQ – Tattoo Aftercare (Tribal Monkey Tattoo Studio)
What soap should I use to clean my tattoo?
Use a mild, fragrance-free soap. Avoid anything antibacterial, exfoliating, or alcohol-based.
When can I go back to the gym or workout?
Wait at least 5–7 days. Sweat and friction can delay healing and cause infections.
Can I drink alcohol after getting tattooed?
Avoid alcohol for the first 24–48 hours. It can thin your blood and slow the healing process.
When is it safe to swim after a tattoo?
Not until your tattoo is fully healed—usually 3–4 weeks. Chlorine and saltwater can ruin the ink.
